Tired of Looking at My Own Nose

By now, it should be very clear that I am an erratic photojournalist, at best. I was happy to learn that I could set a default image for posts on this blog, and given the nature of the beast, my profile image seemed the only appropriate picture to apply across the board.

Lately, it occurs to me that my nose seems awfully big.

So, I was sitting here thinking, “Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was some plug-in out there that would let me set different default images by category?” At first, nothing looked like a good match for what I wanted to do. And then I ran across Quick Featured Images. It appears to do exactly what I need – which is simply to be able to set a default image for each category, so I won’t bore you to death with thumbnails of my nose. This will be my first time using it – so I’m only using it to do that one thing, right now, but it does so much more! And that much power can be scary – theoretically, I could replace all my images with a new one. Not sure I want such a drastic change!

But let’s try just this one:

I’m going to set it to “Blogging Tips & How To”. That third image should be the featured one… if it is, and it isn’t featured on all my posts, then I highly recommend you check this plug-in out for yourself!

Good deal. I use Compfight because I don’t like using the same picture more than once. 🙂

You have succeeded in luring Rummusr to your blog by the simple expedient of asking Mitch how to.

I like what I see and shall visit regularly henceforth. I will be delighted if you could reciprocate.

Coming to the contents of this post, despite my nose being of a disproportionately larger size than the average Indian, I am quite comfortable with it. And the need to doctor does not arise because I don’t use much of graphics in my posts and what I use are innocuous.

    • Well, hello there! I have always seen you commenting on Mitch’s posts, and we’ve had some conversations there in the past. I am so glad I asked! (I thought I might manage to lure you over that way, actually.) Welcome, Rummuser. And thank you.

Oh, I’m fine with my nose – I was just getting tired of seeing it everywhere. You know how Facebook crops featured images weirdly? So you never see my whole face when any of these posts are shared there – just, mostly, my nose. It’s weird.

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who doesn’t use many graphics. I do, when I have one that adds to the post, but I’m a writer, not an artist or photographer. And I am wary of images “found in the wild,” so mostly provide my own. I get a little lazy about that, sometimes. And then I end up with post after post after post that bears…my nose. I figured I could at least set up a variety of default images so there’s SOME visual cue as to what the content’s about – and the I can change that if I want to.

I shall visit your blog right NOW!
