Seems to me that MTV was the hottest channel ever for a while. What was not to love? We got to listen to our favorite songs, all turned into soundtracks for little movies. Get up and dance, or grab the popcorn and watch? But some of these clips didn’t really bear close, rational scrutiny. Part of the fun of writing and theater is the ability to get your audience to suspend disbelief and swallow the notion that any of this actually makes sense. “Hey, it could happen.”
These videos attempt to tell a story, more or less – but they also reveal telling glimpses of the pop culture of the 1980s. Hilarious. Slightly embarrassing, but hilarious.
Go ahead, kiddies – make all the fun you want to. Your day is coming.

You know, I’ve always LIKED the Rick Roll song!
Trivia Question: What was the first video shown on MTV?
Video Killed the Radio Star by The Bungles.
Yeah, my head is full of useless information like that.

They were more fun, that’s for sure. I miss the 50s, too – I mean, I wasn’t born until the 60s, but I think the late 50s had the best music! (Nobe, go smack Akismet once or twice – they thought you were SPAM!! Good thing I know better, huh?)
I thought you might enjoy it, Jena. I’m getting this distinct feeling you and I have very similar tastes in music and humor.
